Welcome from Peter Waller-Flynn, CEO
Welcome to this month’s edition of the Privilege HR newsletter!
It’s been a busy and rewarding time as we continue supporting businesses across the country with all things HR. Over the past few weeks, we’ve attended key business events, hosted support forums, and deepened our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant—a cause we’re proud to champion.
I was also pleased to appear on BBC News, discussing how employers are navigating a tough economic climate, workforce transitions, and the rise of automation. These are realchallenges, and we’re here to helpour clients face them head-on. We’ve also continued our important work in the community, supporting local initiatives and sponsoring events across our franchise network.
Thanks for being with us, stay connected!

In this newsletter you will find:
Our latest business news, events we have attended and hosted, franchising updates, HR services spotlights, community work and more…
Privilege HR Sign Armed Forces Covenant

We had a fantastic morning earlier this month at Altcar Training Camp, where Peter Waller-Flynn was proud to officially sign the Armed Forces Covenant, a big moment for us at Privilege HR as we continue to show our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. A huge thank you to Jan Cox, KurtRay and the team at Altcar for thewarm welcome and the absolutelyfascinating tour of the grounds. Supporting our serving personnel, veterans, and reservists is something we’re incredibly passionate about, and we’re excited to keep building on this work in the months ahead. Here’s to more collaboration and connections very soon!
People’s Forum with Knowsley Chamber

We were thrilled to host another fantastic ‘People’s Chamber’ with Knowsley Chamber of Commerce on 1st July at Shakespeare North Playhouse.
We welcomed a room full of passionate small and micro business owners for a morning of connection, conversation, and practical learning.
The focus of the forum was clear: big challenges faced by small businesses, and how we can work together to find real, actionable solutions. From time management and cashflow to marketing and resilience, the sessions were packed with insight and energy.
Privilege HR’s Peter Waller-Flynn gave a very informative session on becoming an employer and the challenges and pitfalls that can come with that.
Thank you to all the businesses that attended, we look forward to continuing the conversation with many of you soon!

Sexual Harassment Law
The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 came into force on 26 October 2024. This law places a legal duty on all employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
What does this mean for you?
Employers must now proactively assess risk and put preventative measures in place to protect employees from sexual harassment, before it happens.
Harassment can come from:
– Other people at work (colleagues, managers)
– Third parties (clients, customers, contractors)
You cannot wait until an incident has occurred.
If an incident has already happened, you must take steps to prevent it from happening again.
If you fail to take reasonable steps, this could result in:
– Enforcement action by the Equalityand Human Rights Commission(EHRC) – Increased compensation inemployment tribunal claims
At Privilege HR, we offer:
– Training for managers and staff
– Risk assessments and practical advice
– Support for handling current concerns or complaints
– A simple, confidential HR healthcheck chat to ensure compliance
Let’s make sure everyone in your business feels safe, respected, and protected.

Service Spotlight: Redundancy Support
Redundancy should be a last resort. It’s not only costly in the short term, but it can also damage morale and future productivity.
Fortunately, there are several alternative strategies that businesses can consider before heading down that path; which include:
1. Restructure Working Patterns
Consider part-time arrangements, job sharing, or reducing hours temporarily. These can help cut costs while retaining key skills within your team.
2. Recruitment Freeze
Consider whether you need to replace any leavers. Could the work be undertaken using automation, AI or could other colleagues share the workload between them?
3. Review Non-Essential Spending
Take a close look at overheads and discretionary spending. There may be opportunities to cut costs elsewhere before touching your workforce.
4. Redeployment or Retraining
Can employees be redeployed to areas of greater need? Upskilling and internal mobility are often overlooked but can be win-win solutions.
5. Consult and Communicate
Involve employees in the conversation. Open and honest dialogue can uncover creative solutions; it is often employees themselves that can come up with the best ideas to not only survive but also help your business flourish.
CIPD Festival of Work 2025

The Privilege HR Liverpool Team supported by our Cardiff Franchise had an incredible couple of days at the CIPD Festival of Work 2025 at ExCel London. We loved meeting so many amazing businesses, building valuable connections, and having meaningful conversations about the support and opportunities we offer at Privilege HR.
From HR strategy to franchising advice, we had the chance to share what we’re passionate about, putting people first… and we even had a surprise celebrity guest on our stand! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, until next time!

Privilege HR’s Partnership with Liverpool Hope University

At Privilege HR, we’re proud to partner with Liverpool Hope University to offer meaningful internship opportunities to students looking to gain real-world HR experience.
We believe it’s so important to give the next generation of professionals the tools, exposure, and confidence to thrive in their careers, and there’s no substitute for hands-on experience in a live business environment.
Our interns have been absolutely fabulous, bringing fresh ideas, great energy, and a real enthusiasm to learn. We’ve loved watching them grow and develop as part of our team and we have employed several of our interns after their placements. Here’s to investing in future talent, because the future of HR is now!
