Welcome from Peter Waller-Flynn, CEO

Welcome to our September newsletter.
It’s been a month full of connection, collaboration and meaningful conversations across our business community. From supporting regional events to strengthening partnerships and preparing clients for upcoming changes in the ACAS Code, our team continues to work hard to ensure organisations across the UK feel informed, supported and confident.
Thank you, as always, for being part of our growing community. I hope you enjoy this month’s updates and insights.
South Liverpool Business Network Event
This month, Group CEO Peter Waller‑Flynn was invited to speak on the panel at the South Liverpool Business Network event, hosted at Liverpool Hope University. Peter joined fellow panellists Alison Lobb and Jon Davies for a lively and insightful discussion that brought together organisations from across the region.
With a strong turnout and plenty of engagement from attendees, the event highlighted the value of collaboration and shared learning within the local business community.
PrivilegeHR is proud to see Peter representing the group at key regional events — sharing expertise, building connections and championing the work we do to support organisations across the North West.

Proud to Support Widnes Wild
This month, PrivilegeHR was thrilled to join the Widnes Wild family as a sponsor for the 2026/27 season – proudly supporting #11 Luke Watson on the ice.
Championing local talent and investing in our community is something the team is incredibly proud of, and the partnership with Widnes Wild reflects that commitment. With the new season ahead, everyone at PrivilegeHR is excited to see Luke and the team in action and to support them throughout the campaign.

People’s Forum: A Fantastic Morning of Insight and Support for Knowsley Businesses
This month, PrivilegeHR was proud to facilitate another successful People’s Forum in partnership with Knowsley Chamber of Commerce and Liverpool Hope University.
Chaired by Group CEO Peter Waller‑Flynn, the session brought together HR, Operational and Business Leaders for a morning of practical insight and discussion.
Peter opened with a presentation supporting Knowsley businesses, sharing helpful guidance on current workforce challenges. Beam Recruit followed with valuable advice on recruitment and retention, while Liverpool Hope University highlighted the support available to employers through apprenticeships, internships and graduate pathways.
The event closed with a tour of the campus, giving attendees a closer look at the facilities and partnership opportunities.
A fantastic turnout and a brilliant morning of collaboration across the region.

Merchant Navy Day
This month marked Merchant Navy Day, a moment to recognise and honour the brave men and women of the Merchant Navy, past and present, who have played a vital role in keeping the UK supplied, connected and moving.
At PrivilegeHR, supporting the Armed Forces and wider service community is close to our hearts. The Merchant Navy’s contribution reflects the dedication, resilience and sacrifice shown by those who serve at sea to keep our country safe and thriving.
We’re proud to stand alongside organisations and individuals who continue this legacy, and we remain committed to championing fair, supportive and Forces‑friendly workplaces across every region we serve.

AI in Grievances and Disciplinaries: What ACAS Is Highlighting
As part of the proposed updates to the ACAS Code of Practice, one area receiving growing attention is the use of AI in disciplinary and grievance processes. The consultation recognises that AI is already influencing how employees raise concerns, and employers need to be prepared for the impact this may have.
The webinar notes that it is now common for employers to receive lengthy grievances written with the help of AI, often far more detailed than traditional submissions. ACAS is exploring whether these issues should be addressed directly within the Code or through additional non‑statutory guidance, acknowledging that AI‑generated content can complicate clarity, expectations and the practical handling of cases.
For employers, this means future processes may need to adapt. The proposed Code already places greater emphasis on informal resolution, requiring employees to raise concerns through discussion first and to submit formal grievances that are “short and clear”, including what informal steps they have taken and why. AI‑generated grievances often conflict with this expectation, creating challenges around interpretation, relevance and managing excessive detail.
PrivilegeHR will continue supporting organisations as these changes evolve – helping leaders navigate AI‑influenced submissions, maintain fairness, and keep processes compliant with the updated Code once finalised.
A developing area, and one we’ll be keeping a close eye on for our clients across every sector.

Are You Ready for the ACAS Changes?
With ACAS proposing significant updates to disciplinary and grievance requirements, many organisations are beginning to review what these changes could mean for their policies, processes and day‑to‑day people management. It can feel confusing at first — especially with the new emphasis on informal resolution and clearer expectations for both employers and employees.
PrivilegeHR is here to support you through every step. Whether you have questions about informal conversations, grievance wording, documentation updates or manager training, our team is ready to help you stay compliant and confident ahead of the finalised Code.
If you’re unsure what the changes mean for your organisation, or you’d like guidance on preparing your policies, please get in touch with the PrivilegeHR team. We’re here to make the transition simple, clear and fully compliant.
